Facing global warming
It’s strange to think that somewhere in the cosmos there is a planet made for us; an oasis in the immensity of space, a home emanating light and life.
And throughout our evolution we’ve created paths to improve our survival on this planet. Since the way in which we communicate, travel and even explore the rest of the universe; everything with the aim to find new alternatives, always in our own benefit. But the truth is that the effects of those actions had been bigger than our accomplishments.
A recap of the basics
Industries use natural resources at a trepid and excessive speed, no matter apparently the consequences in a mid term. Greenhouse emissions, the ultimate cause of this crisis, are generated precisely by industrial activities. The 34% of carbon footprint comes from the energetic field, the 22% from the agricultural sector, and 15% from the transport. Added to this, the global temperature has risen 1.1 °C compared to the preindustrial levels. The effects? Drastic changing weather patterns like heat waves, lack of water, and distressed ecosystems.
At what point did we lose our connection with the planet, with the earth? At what point did we take so many things for granted, including the vegetables in the supermarket or the trees in our streets? At what point oil became more valuable than water? Is time to stop, renew our awareness and take action. Climate action.
In Tierra Jiasú we’ve embarked on a path that embraces a more sustainable future. A place that means light, a deep transformation. We believe in clean, renewable agriculture, energy and forestry systems. And we also believe in looking at nature with another look, a more conscious one where we restore the value to the earth: where we return twice what we take from it.
